Reasons to wash your face

Throughout the day, our skin endures a lot. Many factors influence how our skin looks and feels, including air pollution that clogs pores and makeup that strangles your face. The first step to getting clean & clear skin is to wash your face using the right cleanser. Cleanse your face to slough off all the oil, buildup, filth, grime, and dead skin cells to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Face cleansing prepares your skin for the next steps in the skincare routine.

Now that you know why washing your face is essential, you must learn how to do it properly. What if we tell you you've been washing your face all wrong all this while? Fret not! Here's how to do it properly:

9 BEHATAREEN steps to ace your skincare game!

1. Pull your hair back.

You don't want your strands to get in the way, or do you? It's no secret that your strands become the resting place for dirt, pollution & bacteria throughout the day. Hence, pulling your hair back while washing your face eliminates the possibility of contamination and trouble, of course.

    2. Wash your hands first.

Think about all the things you touched today. Now imagine touching your face with unclean hands. Sounds gross, right? That's why it is essential to wash your hands before washing your face to prevent the spread of germs or bacteria which may cause acne or other skin woes. So wash away that dirt and grime!

      3. Remove your makeup beforehand.

Makeup on your skin may create a barrier between your skin and skincare products you are applying. As a result, it may prevent the absorption of effectiveness into your skin. Removing your makeup before washing your face will ensure any residual makeup and cleansing dirt, oil, and impurities that may clog pores.

        4. Use lukewarm water.

Washing your face with hot water is never a good idea! It dries out your skin by depriving your skin of natural oils. On the other hand, washing your face with cold water tightens your pores but may trap debris & impurities, leading to breakouts. Hence, we recommend washing your face with lukewarm water that assists in deep cleansing without drying out your skin.

          5. Wet your face.

You can apply your cleanser first or moisten your face, depending on the type of cleanser you're using. To use a foam cleanser, wet your face first, then rub a dime-sized amount of cleanser between your palms until it forms a lovely foam. Spend between 30-60 seconds cleansing your skin.

            6. Gently massage in the cleanser.

Massage gently in circular motions on trouble spots like the T-zone, hairline, jawline, and even down the neck and behind the ears. Spend a minute carefully massaging in circular motions rather than scrubbing vigorously for 20 seconds.

              7. Rinse.

Wash your hands to clean off the cleanser, and then splash water upwards on your face to wash off the cleanser.

                8. Pat dry with a clean, fresh towel.

It's better to pat your skin dry after cleansing with a fresh, soft towel. Be careful when patting your face dry because the skin on your face is delicate. You don’t necessarily have to completely dry it as it will lock in moisture after you apply skincare products from your beauty regime.

                  9. Apply other skincare.

Apply toner, serum, and a hydrating moisturizer for that supple, smooth skin! And remember to wear an SPF during the day.

So, are you ready to enjoy supple & plump skin? Go, get that glow! Happy cleansing!
